I usually somehow end up with 7 if I'm lucky, usually about 6.5 hours, I would like 7.5 on average.

I want to get back to about 4-5 hours sleep a day so I have plenty of time to do all the things I want and still feel pretty well rested.

I've been getting closer to 7-8 hours a day, sometimes with a nap on top of that and still feeling drained. Need to find new stuff that keeps my interest sparked so I'm motivated to stay awake I guess.

I one of those people who needs more than most.

i need 9 1/2. Any more is overkill, any less is too little.

I function well with 7-8 a night, but I can get on with 4-6h a night for a couple of days straight. With 2 kids, both of them have been ill on and off since Christmas, I've had to do with 3h sleep a couple of times. That's no fun at all, especially in the morning. I'm an evening person, so I can't get to sleep before 23.00h either. My wife and I catch up on sleep in the weekend. I sleep in on Sat, she gets to sleep in on Sun. It'll pass.

Need 8, tend to get around 7, due to wanting to enjoy the time alone at night (wife tends to go an hour or two before me).

Sleep Scientists...theres like an official name for them that im too lazy to look up right now, have stated that most adults need around 9 or more hours. Some more, some less.

There are some really cool stuff you can do with your sleep cycles by breaking them up in to several hour chunks...and by doing so, significantly reduce the require amount of hours needed.

Since I started working 12 hour shifts (6pm - 6am) 3-4 days a week my sleep has been out of whack.

Usually now I try to get at least 5 hours but it's not always happening. When I get home in the morning and the sun comes up I get a burst of energy and have to force myself to sleep. Then when I get home Sunday at 6am I'm trying to get into the habit of going right to bed while it's dark and getting up 4-5 hours later so I don't waste the day. Then switch back to sleeping nights that night so I can spend time with the family.

Starting to get black rings under my eyes and although I don't feel tired all the time I'm noticing a difference and think I need more sleep.

My wife is a nurse and she occasionally has to work nights. Plus my ex GF had a mum who worked nights for 40 odd years.

I have come to the conclusion that working nights is very unhealthy overall and, although if given the chance we can overcome any damage done by it, we must have that chance to fully recover and not do it for too long.
